Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine treatment. They can be left static in certain areas or used to massage.
It can be done on most areas of the body where you can feel tension.
How does it work: when air is pulled out of the cups the skin, muscle and fascia are pulled into the cup, creating a lift. This allows fresh blood to flow to the areas which promotes healing, reducing inflammation, relives tension and pain. It brings old blood and toxins to the surface which is then flushed out.
The cups can be used along with sports massage techniques.
Does it hurt – no
Does it leave marks – yes. There can be dark circles left behind. They will fade in a couple of days but if you are planning a night out it’s probably best not to have it done the week before.
Side affects – You may feel slightly lethargic and a bit sick due to the toxins leaving the body. This may last a couple of hours. To help this pass, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and get plenty of rest and a good nights sleep.
Your session can be just with the cupping or as a mix with sports massage too for the most powerful treatment combination.
