Winter can be a tough time for our skin. As the temperature drops, our skin can become dry, cracked, and irritated. But don’t worry – there are plenty of ways to keep our skin healthy and hydrated during the cold winter months.
First, it’s important to moisturise! Look for a thick cream-based moisturiser that will help lock in moisture and protect your skin from the cold. Make sure to apply it to your face and body right after you shower, so the moisture will be sealed in. You should also switch out your regular shower gel or purifying cleanser for a gentler cleanser that won’t strip away all the skin’s natural oils.
Consider using a humidifier or ioniser in your home. This will help keep the air from getting too dry from the central heating, which can cause dry, flaky skin. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water as this will help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
Eat plenty of oily fish or take a supplement to support your skin barrier.
Finally, try to limit your time outside in the really bitter cold. The cold air can be very drying to the skin, so make sure to bundle up in warm layers and wear a hat and gloves to protect your skin from the wind.
Never forget your SPF!! It still gets daylight which means you still get UVA and UVB rays.
By following these simple steps, you can keep your skin healthy and hydrated during the winter months. So don’t be afraid of the cold – just be prepared!
